BASIC LIFE SUPPORT ( BLS )

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest.

This course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings.

This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS )

ACLS builds on the foundation of lifesaving basic life support (BLS) skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR.

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

HeartCode BLS and ACLS Learning ( eLearning )

HeartCode is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.

HeartCode BLS and ACLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.

After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS and ACLS Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor.
This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. Where available, students may also complete the hands-on session with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM).
